One of the best things I have done since moving to Paris is to join the Amis du Louvre. They have so much to offer and one of my favorites is the bus trips to the countryside to see art at the old châteaus in the countryside.
You get to see gorgeous architecture and art.
Château Chantilly was originally built in 1560, but destroyed during the Revolution and rebuilt in the 1800s. The reviews were mixed (and so French), but the art collection and library is one of the most impressive in the world. There are also mosaics that remind me of Ostia in Rome and I love me some mosaics.
Also the town of Chantilly has incredibly cream and they invented whipped cream.
